Fall Around The Castle

Posted by editor on 09/20/19

The next few weeks will bring cooler air and all that fall has to offer! Looking to view yellow, red, and orange leaves? The Castle residents are in luck as there are many places just a short distance for you to see some beautiful foliage.

Take a short car ride, on a lovely fall day in late September, to visit Teatown Lake Reservation. There you can design your own “fairy home” using natural items for your favorite fairy or gnome to live in with the some of the same amenities as your Castle apartment. At Teatown you will discover 15 miles of hiking trails, Wildflower Island a refuge for over 230 species of native wildflowers and much more.

Be sure to stop at Thompson’s Cider Mill before heading back to The Castle as it is only a short distance from Teatown. Arrive early on Saturday and watch as they press a blend of many apple varieties to create the best old-fashioned pure cider around. Although there is a “no picking” policy you can tour the orchard to discover over 25 varieties of apples including rare heirloom or antique varieties. Enjoy fresh cider doughnuts and crisp apples plucked daily off the trees. Purchase some artisanal small-batch hard cider or Blossom White Apple wine to enjoy at home!

Bake an apple pie in your state of the art Castle kitchen. After your hike you deserve time to relax in your luxurious Castle apartment living room to sip some freshly pressed or hard cider. Happy Fall!
