Celebrating Earth Day in Westchester

Posted by editor on 04/19/18

Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22nd, to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970 and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year. Now that the weather is getting warmer, Castle residents can enjoy time outside their apartments and celebrate all that Mother Nature has to offer around Port Chester.  There are some great parks and beaches which are just minutes away from your door step.

Abendroth Park – Since the Castle is pet friendly, you may own a dog or have friends in the building who do.  Abendroth Park opened Port Chester’s first dog park in 2015, which is has two sections; one for smaller dogs and the other for bigger dogs.  This park has over 10 acres, a picnic pavilion and a playground.  Abendroth is a great local option if you’re looking to work out by yourself or with your pet.

Columbus Park – If you love playing sports such as basketball, volleyball and soccer then head over to Columbus Park this spring.  They also have a picnic pavilion with grills, so you can do a spring BBQ with friends.  This is the perfect spot to celebrate Earth Day!

Greenwich Point Park – Just 10 miles from your Castle apartment is a beautiful beach on the Long Island Sound.  Greenwich Point is open daily, and activities include jogging, walking, cycling, nature study, boating, fishing, sailboarding, sun bathing, swimming, and picnicking. This beach is known for being very clean and even has views of the New York City skyline.
