Thanksgiving Leftovers at The Castle

Now that Thanksgiving is over, many people are stuck wondering what to do with all the leftovers they put so much time and effort into cooking for their holiday dinner. There is plenty that you can do so all your hard work and delicious food does not go to waste. Here are some recipes and tips for our future residents at The Castle for meals you can enjoy for breakfast, lunch or dinner made up of your favorite holiday leftovers!

Country Living has a delicious recipe to turn your leftovers into a mouth-watering breakfast! Turkey Hash with Sunny Side Up Eggs. This recipe which usually calls for corn beef, replaces the main ingredient with turkey so your can take advantage of those leftovers. This option is even a little bit healthier then the original recipe! You can also use leftover potatoes, or make fresh ones in a pot. In a skillet cook onions, garlic, pepper and seasonings for about 5 minutes time. Then add oil, your leftover thanksgiving turkey and stir together. Nothing is better for lunch than a traditional turkey sandwich! Spice it up and make it a little more interesting by following this recipe from the Food Network for a grilled turkey, brie, apple butter sandwich with arugula. Ready in less then 15 minutes the combination of ingredients adds some spectacular flavor to your leftovers, so you don’t even feel like you are eating leftovers. Spread the apple butter on the bread, add as many slices of turkey as you like, add 2 or 3 slices of cheese and then arugula leaves to prep. Turkey and Mashed Potato Pot Pie makes a great easy and quick dinner dish to help use up those  holiday leftovers. This recipe from Martha Stewart calls for 4 cups of mashed potatoes and 1 and 3/4 cups of turkey, using up much of what was put back in your fridge! Other ingredients that add some flavor are mushrooms, bacon and thyme leaves. This recipe is also easy to replace ingredients you don’t like and adapt to make it your own, but gives you a guidance for two of the most common leftover dishes.
